Hospital Visits

PAWS Houston Hospital "Personal Pet Visitation" program is at Methodist Hospital and Christus St. Joseph.

We are very proud to say that this initiative is the first of its kind in Houston and one of the few in the country. Through this program PAWS Houston provides patients that are critically ill (and in many cases unlikely to leave the hospital) the opportunity to visit with and say goodbye to their own pets in their hospital rooms. All patients excluding those in the bone marrow unit are eligible for a visit facilitated by a PAWS Houston volunteer as long as the animal passes a special screening process. The response to this program has been overwhelming and its impact has been more far-reaching than we could have imagined at its inception. PAWS Houston also provides foster care for the patients' pet if they are not financially able to board the pet.
